HEY fellow Tejas organizers and activists--
the global justice/anti-corp/anti-caplitalist fall is KICKING
OFF!!! and houston is hosting the central american free trade talks. oct
20-24!!!!
the only problem is that only a "privileged few" are allowed to go "behind
closed doors" to attend the CAFTA talks. therefore, civic-minded
houstonians yearning to be included are organizing their own activites
outside the talks and in communities most effected by CAFTA. we are
calling on activists of all sorts, organizers, artists, concerned
citizens, writers, music makers, anarchists, environmentalists, labor,
Democrats, Republicans and whoever else wants to join the effort against
globalization to converge on houston in late october.
any friends in other parts of the region and nation who want to come on
down to join in the fun will be greatly welcome..
we plan to organize/coordinate teach-in's,
skillshares workshops, creative direct action, media events and a spirited
colorful permitted march and rally full of street theater, props and
puppets some of the days that the cafta talks are going on (oct 20-24)...
we will strive to make this as anti-racist, queer/trans friendly, pro-
feminist, accessible, supportive, empowering, and safe place to be
together, we can send a message to the power-brokers that a better world
is possible and that people will not longer accept business as usual in
the global economy....
