He is now being elevated to become a "hero" and plans are afoot by his families and allies to have him interred in Libingan ng mga Bayani (Cemetery of Heroes). (image/jpeg)

So Many of Us

Americans watch our children go off to war. We watch the dreams of home ownership disintegrate in our hands like wet paper. We watch the gap between the wealthy and ourselves widen and try to keep saying it that way, as by doing so it makes it sound less like we’re getting poorer somehow. We watch our children have less access to quality education – the one thing we know will give them the kinds of futures we might have had. (image/jpeg)

Lawsuit to End Solicitation as a Crime Against Nature
Matt Olson
2011-04-07 11:51 PM On February 15, 2011, a federal lawsuit was filed on behalf of nine anonymous plaintiffs against the Government of Louisiana to challenge the inclusion of solicitation of oral and anal sex as a crime against nature. This 206 year old statute forces those convicted twice of this offense to register as a sex offender for a minimum of 15 years to life. If successful, this lawsuit known as Doe v. Jindal would prevent people who exchange sexual acts for money from being lumped together with convicted rapists and child molesters as sex offenders.

Jena Six Activist Convicted
Repost from: Jordan Flaherty - Via LJI
2011-03-31 10:43 PM
Civil rights activist Catrina Wallace, who received national attention for her role in organizing protests around the Jena Six case, was convicted today of three counts of distribution of a controlled substance. Wallace, who is 30, became an activist after her brother, Robert Bailey, was arrested and charged with attempted murder for a school fight. Bailey and five others later became known as the Jena Six. Their case eventually brought 50,000 people on a march through the town of Jena, and as a result of the public pressure the six young men were eventually freed. The six young men are all now in college or - in the case of the youngest - on their way. (image/png + 7 comments)
