And the Winner in Mexico Is… The Zapatista Other Campaign
Al Giordano
2006-06-30 10:10 AM But if Washington’s endgame in this year’s Mexican elections is to pop out a “Madrazo Surprise” the Mexican public is not going to accept it after being told for weeks that Madrazo and the hated PRI are out of the race? And, well, if Sosa’s supposed poll – it claims to have interviewed 116,000 voters, which, if true, would make it the largest of the year – is used as justification, the Sosa-Bush connection will get wide play South of the Border. Which means, just as in the scenario in which the IFE would declare Calderón the winner, a fast-developing national revolt in Mexico coming in July, with the added element of wide perception of Bush administration meddling in the process. And remembering the Great American Boycott of May 1, that revolt might even spread North of the Border (text/plain)

Courage To Resist: Aiding Soldiers Who Refuse To Engage in War
Kevin Zeese
2006-06-27 8:10 PM One of the most powerful group of voices in opposition to the occupation of Iraq are U.S. soldiers who come home and speak out. In particular, those who become so disillusioned and disgusted by the Iraq occupation that they refuse to return provide a special power that can help to end the nightmare of the Iraq quagmire. More and more soldiers are reaching that breaking point and saying they refuse to participate. As a result a support group has developed, Courage to Resist, that is aiding those who refuse to participate. (text/plain + 1 comment)
