MayDay 2006 DVD ¡Gigante: Despierta! (Giant: Awake!)
subMedia
2007-02-18 8:35 PM Greetings,
My name is Franklin Lopez and I am collaborating with Indymedia (http://video.indymedia.org) on a DVD project about the May Day 2006 migrant rights marches. The working title is ¡Gigante: Despierta! (Giant: Awake!) This DVD project is a compilation of video pieces shot during the May Day 2006 immigrant marches and due to hit the streets several weeks before May 1 of this year.
I am writing to you because you either produced a piece on this historical mobilization or collaborated with a group on this and we would like to include it on the compilation. As you can see time is of the essence. In order to get this historical document out by April we need to collect high quality versions of the footage by the end of February.
This is a not-for-profit project, and any proceeds from DVD sales after the costs of production are paid off will be split 50-50 between you (the videomakers) and grassroots immigrant rights organizations around the country. After reading this please feel free to contact me with any questions. My email address is frank(at)submedia.tv

Saludos,

The Spanish “Transition to democracy” was simply a way to fortify the capitalist economic model. With such Transition, the Spanish dominant class eliminated all sort of social resistance and opened the way for business; they made a Francoism without Franco and presented the Transition as a triumph of the people. It was a history written by the owners of money and their fascist sentries.
But Memory, Dignity and Struggle continue

Solidarity with the General Strike in Guinea!
International Communist Party
2007-02-15 10:06 AM Guinea-Conakry is a small West African country of 10 million inhabitants, one of the poorest countries on the planet, in spite of the richness of its mining industry: diamonds, gold, iron, uranium and especially bauxite of which it is the 2nd largest producer in the world. Although the majority of the population of Guinea lives in misery, local and foreign bourgeois and the American, Canadian and Japanese multinationals grow rich, protected by the regime of General Lansana Conté (who seized power after a coup in 1984) against rising dissatisfaction. Gallo does Bush inpersonation in court
Paul King
2007-02-14 11:28 PM I just got finished reading Bob Gallo's testimony in the Parenzee case. For all the good his testimony will do, the prosecution might as well have called George W. Bush to the stand. I get the feeling that Gallo unwittingly associated himself with Bush in the eyes of the court.

Civic Activism, Blogging, and Media Democracy in the Rebuilding in New Orleans, Pt. 1
Brian Denzer
2007-02-10 7:52 PM In perhaps an unprecedented manner, the internet has become for New Orleanians an essential tool for re-establishing personal connections, for sharing stories, for communicating the will of residents, for organizing residents to rebuild their neighborhoods, and for fighting for desperately-needed answers and resources from every level of government. New Orleans bloggers Karen Gadbois and Laureen Lentz have become champions of many causes, but their primary focus is preserving New Orleans historic heritage in a blog called “Squandered Heritage.” Leadout track: Allen Toussaint, "Me and Tipitina," Our New Orleans, Nonesuch, 2005. 21:24, 5 mb, 32kbps.
