Ban Circumcision and Female genital mutilation
M.A.Hussain
2011-06-23 4:09 AM It is tragic that we are adopting a barbaric ritual of male circumcision and female genital mutilation
that belongs to Iron age in the twenty-first century.
From the moment of birth, every child has all the human rights of any other person -
including the inviolable right to freedom from non-consensual, non-therapeutic bodily alternation.
Muslim and Jew Males and females are being denied their inherent right to keep all the body parts
with which they were born. Fixation of Muslims and Jews with physical matters like on diet,
bodily cleanliness and circumcision reveal their spiritual improvishment.

NolaAnarcha

He also said the drugs on him were planted by the cops. Alvin Bean was lucky. (text/html)

Antonella Antonecchia
2011-06-09 12:28 AM This week marks more than 100 years since the radio was patented on June 2, 1896, an invention that changed the world and the ideas of Human Rights such as Right #19 “Freedom of Expression”. History was made when arctic explorer Robert E. Peary, in 1909, radio-telegraphed, "I found the Pole". Today, history is still being made through radio, as an array of human rights issues such as discrimination, religious beliefs, torture and other controversial subjects are discussed around the world on live radio.

U.S. Election 2012- Stewart Alexander: Jobs Report a Disaster for Obama
Lynn Lomibao
2011-06-04 2:28 PM President Barack Obama recently kicked off his 2012 re-election campaign; however, the sluggish economy and the president’s failure to create jobs could threaten his hopes for re-election. With all the bad news on the economy, the president still remains the favorite to win in 2012. President Obama is a formidable fundraiser and has the financial backing of Wall Street and could spend as much a $1 billion for re-election; and approaching November 2012, the Republican field of presidential hopefuls appears to be hopeless. Islamic Women Divorce Law in Egypt
Gabriel Sawma
2011-06-02 11:46 PM Under the rules of Islamic sharia, the husband can end his marriage unilaterally by simply announcing the words “I divorce my wife” or “I divorce you” three times. He does not need to justify his decision, nor explain any reason for his divorce and never need to enter a courtroom to end his marriage. Egyptian Muslim women however are denied equal right to divorce. They are trapped in unwanted marriages or left begging for a divorce that can take years to obtain and leave them destitute. The Old Money Hierarchy and Luncheon Clubs Make Class Mutiny Easy!
nola anarcha
2011-05-26 3:53 PM In New Orleans, old money families have controlled the social, economic, and political life of our city for centuries. While these feudal lords currently represent an older form of hierarchical power that relies on extremely racialized and extremely gendered structures, more contemporary forms have recently elbowed their way into some spheres of influence (which was a necessary requirement for the continued reproduction of capitalism). However, the white old money elites still (mis-)rule much of New Orleans and are squarely to blame for the severe inequalities that still exist in our city. (text/html + 1 comment)

Hanna: An “Alternative” Movie Review (as more interesting and informative than your typica
David Dense
2011-05-18 11:36 PM This review is not meant to give you all the typical facts and highlights of the movie. Standard movie reviewers have already presented their perspectives, the basic story line. Whereas this essay is meant to take more seriously what is really a rather stupid plot, but still within a beautiful movie and action packed piece of entertainment, and to speculate how it may fit “within” the too often vacuous audience culture that might watch it, as well as the movie industry that created it and critiqued it. And, granted, it is often presumptuous to interpret a work of art as something that can be criticized as more subjectively serious—but the idea of juxtaposing a fairy tale with CIA operatives is just too tempting to “not” deconstruct. U.S. Election 2012: Alexander says Republicans Can’t Win against Obama
Lynn Lomibao
2011-05-17 4:22 PM President Obama has fallen far short of fulfilling has campaign promises that led him to victory in 2008; however, approaching U.S. Election 2012, the field of Republican presidential candidates is the worse since 1964; according to Stewart Alexander. Some members in the Republican leadership are already writing off the 2012 Election and are setting their hopes on 2016. By 2012, President Obama could win the presidential election by a landslide.
