text Entire US financial system is to come under the scrutiny of the IMF SPIEGEL 2008-06-29 4:36 PM
The entire US financial system is to come under the scrutiny of the IMF. Humiliation for Mr. Dollar: Ben Bernanke, the chairman of the United States Federal Reserve Bank, faces a general investigation by the International Monetary Fund. Just one more example of the Fed losing its power. For seven years, US President George W. Bush refused to allow the IMF to conduct its assessment. text Army Turning Trash Into Energy Army News Service 2008-06-21 3:30 AM
TGER is small enough to fit into a CONEX container, but powerful enough to power a standard 60-kilowatt generator. TGER works by turning the solid trash into fuel pellets which are fed into a down-draft gasifier. The gasifier then heats the pellets, and breaks them down into a synthetic gas composed of simple hydrocarbons that resembles low-grade propane. TGER processes the liquid and food waste into a hydrous ethanol which is blended with the syngas to create usable energy. (text/plain)

text Bush Pledges on Iraq Bases Pact Were a Ruse Garth Porter and General Joe 2008-06-13 5:12 PM
"Recent statements by Iraqis familiar with US demands in negotiations on the US-Iraq "strategic framework" agreement have highlighted the fact that administration promises that it would not seek "permanent bases" or the use of bases to attack Iran or any other neighboring countries were deliberately misleading. The wording used by the Bush administration appears to have been chosen to obscure its intention to have both long-term access to Iraqi bases and complete freedom to use them to launch operations against Iran and Syria."
