SCOTT LINDLAW

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Dalai Lama said Wednesday that the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan may have been justified to win a larger peace, but that is it too soon to judge whether the Iraq war was warranted. (image/jpeg)

Iraq, Bin Laden, 911 and our Soldiers.
Gabrielle Reilly
2003-09-12 9:39 AM
How is Iraq, Bin Laden, 911 and our Soldiers connected? When public figures, the media, or people in general, take a position on an issue it often becomes more important to be “right” than to be emotionally intelligent enough to seek the truth. It appears that so much information is being swept under the carpet by the media and politicians who protested the war and by the Bush Administration’s withholding of information so intelligence collection is not jeopardized. It has become very difficult to know what to believe at times, so let’s review 911 and the war in Iraq.

Unfortunately, she has no solid data on infections overall nor on specific groups such as teenagers, including the nonexistent twenty- and twenty-one-year-old ones. (And the media lionize her as a beauty queen with a brain!) The hard data are that teen AIDS cases are declining; in 1998 there were all of 297.

The Environment/Energy Balance
Gabrielle Reilly
2003-09-05 9:48 AM
YES, I am a tree hugger. I drove down the Western Australian Coast with my feet up on the dash board, meditated and danced joyously by the rivers, strummed my guitar by the ocean and sang “Imagine” with my mates… Those days were much simpler; the environment/energy balance was really just a single issue then. Social balance was achieved by the extremes on both sides, the greenies against the capitalists. The environment cannot be looked at as a single issue anymore as the complexity of global war has heated up. A whole new paradigm of cause and effect is relevant on how we address the energy/environment balance.

Tax Cuts, The Enron’s, The Rich, The Poor, And Human Nature…
Gabrielle Reilly
2003-08-26 12:11 PM
“They are giving tax cuts to the rich and robbing the poor” lets put this age old debate regarding tax cuts into the simplest terms. The financial security of everyday people is essential to raising our children, grandchildren, providing good education, reducing crime. The wisest financial strategies need to be put in place above bipartisan politics or the passion of so many of us vigilantly opposed to class systems. A review of human nature and the cycles of people’s lives need to be taken into consideration when waging this big debate on economical models such as Bush’s tax cuts. The answer may be a little surprising though...
