Data Center 101 - the four fundamental flaws of a traditional data center
What comes into your mind whenever someone mentions the word "data center" to you? No, it's not some fancy term from a game and it's definitely not a secret military base as one would expect from some science fiction novel or movie. Indeed, data centers are the real thing, but they're not as secretive and mysterious as you thought they would be. A data center is a facility where computers and all other peripherals associated with the computer system are placed for efficiency and storage. (image/jpeg + 1 comment)

Will AB 2530 Unshackle Childbirth in California? -Interviewing Tina Reynolds & Vikki Law
A bill opposing the shackling of pregnant prisoners, AB 2530, has been passed unanimously by the California State Legislature and is now on Governor Jerry Brown’s desk, with thirty days to either approve or veto it. Last year, a previous version of this bill was also passed unanimously by the Legislature, but it was ultimately vetoed by Brown. With Brown’s decision expected anytime, local activists are urgently mobilizing to stop him from vetoing this important bill once again. AB 2530 supporters have created a webpage for the public (not just California residents) to contact the Governor. (image/jpeg)

Massacre of striking miners in South Africa
On July 18 the world bourgeoisie celebrated “Mandela Day”, established internationally by the UN in November 2009 under the sign of peace, freedom, reconciliation, etc. In South Africa, more than 12 million children sang hymns to Mandela before going to class, the whole population was called upon to devote 67 minutes of their time (corresponding to 67 years of Mandela’s activism) to helping others. The IMATU Union requested that this day where they celebrate “the 67 years of his life Mandela has given for the rights of humanity, equality, justice and democracy enjoyed today by all South Africans” become a public holiday, so that individuals can give much more than 67 minutes to useful causes.... Two Weeks of Actions, Workshops Planned for RNC
It's 2012, and rather than it meaning the end of the world, it means more political conventions and a focus on electoral politics within the United States. But activists in Tampa Bay are preparing to show an alternative to politics as usual through creative actions and teach-ins opposing the Republican National Convention while offering up a vision of what is possible at large mobilizations and in the world. Will 2012 be the Final Election of Lesser Evilism?
Just when the Obama campaign couldn’t appear any less inspiring, Paul Ryan was put forth as the Republican vice presidential candidate. Suddenly team Obama was supplied with enough political munitions to scare every last American over the possible Ryan destruction of Medicare, Medicaid, cuts to Social Security and the various other evils inherent in his proposed national budget. Consequently, many Liberals and Leftists across the spectrum are now focused on preaching the horrors of a Republican presidential victory and thus the necessity of re-electing Obama. (image/jpeg)

STOP Imperialist War against Syria
We, the International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS), condermn in the strongest terms the duplicitous scheme of the US and NATO in instigating, funding and arming the so-called Syrian National Council and Free Syrian Army to seek the violent overthrow of the Assad government in Syria and at the same time pushing a “peace plan” and then a “transitional government” under the auspices of the UN in order to politically outmanuever the Assad government and the anti-imperialist and democratic forces.
