The Legacy of the Iraqi War Hawks
William Hughes
2006-10-11 10:28 PM
The body count goes up and up in Iraq; with more dead U.S. soldiers and Iraqi civilians. Chaos reigns! Yet, the man primarily responsible for this carnage, President George W. Bush, insists on “staying the course.” The evil legacy of this conflict metastasizes. The War Hawks, many in the U.S. Congress, some in the Media, along with the Neocons, bear culpability, too, in this matter. The Nov. election may be a last chance to restore sanity in Washington, D.C. (image/jpeg)

About Labor Union News-Labor unions have benefited greatly from the communications capabilities provided by the Internet: thousands of sites overflow with a wealth of information regarding news, issues and policies of labor unions both regional and global. I've collected some of these resources here, to serve as a starting point for those doing research on labor unions, looking for a specific group, or simply wanting to learn more about the state of unions today. Hidden Costs of the Iraqi War Exposed
William Hughes
2006-10-03 10:20 AM
As of Oct. 3, 2006, the Iraqi War has led to the deaths of 2,720 U.S. military personnel, cost taxpayers $331.1 billion, while Iraqi civilian casualties are estimated at over 100,000. However, there are also “hidden costs” to this awful conflict. Some were revealed at a Capitol Hill “Iraq Forum” on Sept. 26, 2006. They are the costs to the children of Iraq; to the Iraqi War Veterans; and to the American taxpayers, who are stuck with the tab, while other economic and social priorities go unanswered. Joe Stork of Human Rights Watch called the Israelis’ destruction of Gaza’s only electric power generating plant a “war crime.” (image/jpeg)

William Hughes
2006-09-27 9:17 AM

The organizing groups for the event were the “National Campaign for Nonviolence Resistance” (NCNR) and the “Declaration of Peace.” One of the protesters arrested was Max Obuszewski of the NCNR. The US Government’s Usage of Atomic Bombs - Domestic - WTC
Ed Ward, MD
2006-09-25 8:37 PM
The factual evidence indicates that our government is using and has used 3rd or possibly 4th generation hydrogen bombs domestically and internationally. The evidence for international usage is not quite as strong as the domestic usage, but when domestic usage is considered the international usage seems inescapable. The process of exclusion based on the known facts leaves only one viable option for the destruction of the World Trade Center (WTC) buildings - a relatively pure hydrogen bomb. One of the speakers was Professor Jonathan Turley of the GWU’s School of Law. He accused George W. Bush of creating an “uber presidency” and violating the “Separation of Powers” doctrine. He also blasted the two-party system as a monopoly. Prof. Turley said: “We need another political party!” (image/jpeg)

Kevin Zeese: “It’s Time to Try Diplomacy in Middle East!”
William Hughes
2006-09-18 11:15 AM
Since the end of WWII, the U.S. policy in the Middle East has created only “more anger-more hatred for our county,” said Kevin Zeese. Speaking on 09/13/06, at the Palestine Center, in D.C., Zeese ripped the Bush-Cheney Gang for giving Israel the “green light” to terrorize Lebanon for 33-days. Zeese also took it to task for abandoning the Palestinians and for its hostile attitude towards Iran. “It’s time to try diplomacy in the Middle East,” he said. (image/jpeg)
