Cop Assaults Activist at Lockheed Martin Protest
William Hughes
2006-12-23 10:05 AM
A peaceful rally, on the morning of Dec. 22, 2006, protesting Lockheed Martin’s production of lethal cluster bombs turned ugly. The giant defense contractor’s headquarters are located in Montgomery County, MD, just north of Washington, D.C. As one of the activists, Patrick J. Elder, was speaking to the demonstrators about the deadly effects of the cluster bomb device, he was ordered “off the grass” by a police officer. When Mr. Elder immediately complied and moved to the sidewalk, he was then assaulted by a cop. (image/jpeg)
Aaron Burr and Dick Cheney: Two Treacherous VPs
William Hughes
2006-12-21 1:32 PM
 V. P. Dick Cheney is a very powerful, but desperate individual. The idea that the Bush-Cheney Gang is planning to send 30,000 more troops into the Civil War in Iraq is insane. A planned war with Iran is also on Cheney’s agenda as a diversion to save himself and George W. Bush from impeachment. The Special Prosecutor will soon cross examine Cheney in the “Scooter” Libby case. Unless the U.S. Congress acts soon to impeach, say good-bye to the Republic! (image/jpeg + 1 comment)

Steven Argue
2006-12-15 6:10 PM
Not a single Louisiana Congressperson voted against the resolution.
Joining in the racist lynch mob calling for blood of an innocent black man was Louisiana Democrat Congressperson Charles Melancon. William Jefferson didn’t vote.
Also voting for Mumia’s blood were Republicans Bobby Jindal, James McCrery, Rodney Alexander, Richard Baker, and Charles Boustany.

Dame Dieng is 21 and has been arrested without any valid explanation, the Senegalese police invented the same old insult and threat known for centuries stuff when they invaded the political opponent, Idrissa Seck, headquarters where Dame Dieng happened to be, he had been recruited by this contradictor to the authoritarian Wade regime after having worked for a newspaper’s website and proved there his incredible gifts for computer matters. Freiheit für Mumia!: German book reveals new evidence
Hans Bennett
2006-11-25 5:06 AM
This is a shorter “reader-friendly” essay review of German author Michael Schiffmann's explosive new book on Mumia Abu-Jamal featured at http://www.dissidentvoice.org/Nov06/Bennett24.htm based on my exclusive reading of the English language version (not yet published in the US) and an extensive interview, which is the only public English language resource that documents the many new facts and original ballistics analysis presented in the German book. This version features several accompanying graphics.

Kathy Kelly to James Baker: “Tell the Truth about Iraq!”
William Hughes
2006-11-23 12:14 AM
Nobel Peace Prize nominee, Kathy Kelly, gave a talk at the UMBC campus, on Nov. 20, 2006. She mocked the ex-Secretary of State, James Baker, for saying he wasn’t going to “wring his hands” about past mistakes in Iraq. Baker heads up the so-called “Iraq Study Group.” Kelly roared: “We will wring our hands! One of the ways to stop this next war is to tell the truth about this war. And, it’s not going to be such a pleasant mirror to look into.” (image/jpeg)

Despite U.S. Threats, Voters Return Sandinistas To Power
Steven Argue
2006-11-14 2:03 AM
The Sandinista revolution, upon coming to power in 1979, confiscated the land that had been held by the Somoza family and some of his closet cronies and redistributed it to the poor that worked it partly through establishing collectively run state farms. The Sandinistas also made literacy and healthcare a priority. Easily treated diseases that Somoza let kill and maim, such as polio, were vaccinated against and eliminated. Teaching everyone to read and write became a priority in the country where Somoza once declared he wanted “… uneducated people, little more than beasts of burden.” (image/jpeg)

The Anti-War Movement Sourced the Democrats’ Victory!
William Hughes
2006-11-09 10:52 AM
The Democratic Party, read “The War Lite” Party, is basking in the glow of victory today. It has regained control of the House of Representatives, and the U.S. Senate for the first time in 12-years. The two issues that it won on-The Iraqi War and the whacky persona of President George W. Bush-had little or nothing to do with the Democratic Party. Those two matters were actually sourced by activists in the Anti-Iraqi War Movement! (image/jpeg)

William Hughes
2006-11-03 3:02 PM
Before the word “Feminist” became fashionable, Mary Robinson, a Barrister, legislator and educator, was shaking up the “conservative” establishment in the Republic of Ireland. After serving a term as its first female President, she became the UN’s High Commissioner for Human Rights. Today, human rights, on a global scale, is her cause. On Nov. 1, 2006, in a lecture at Adelphi, MD, she exposed human rights atrocities in Darfur and elsewhere. (image/jpeg)

Lieberman’s Electoral Fate Tests Power of Wirepullers
William Hughes
2006-11-01 12:17 PM
Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman, the ultra Iraqi War Hawk, is up for reelection in Connecticut on Nov. 7th. He lost the Democratic primary, but has re-created himself as an Independent. Ned Lamont is his opponent. If Lieberman can be defeated, it will be a blow to the Wirepullers and also an opportunity for antiwar forces to reshape the new Congress, which may lead to impeachment proceedings, in 2007, against both George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. (image/jpeg)

Well, Eamon McGuire, an Irishman, can tell you something about that, along with what it was like to be member of the IRA’s South Armagh Brigade. For over 20 years, McGuire led a double life: one as an aircraft engineer, the other as an IRA operative. His newly-released book, “Enemy of the Empire: Life as an International Undercover IRA Activist,” is compelling reading. (image/jpeg)
