California Governor Candidate Stewart Alexander Will Challenge Obama’s Health Bill
Richard Perry
2010-06-05 3:34 PM Obama’s health care bill may qualify as the most non-democratic legislative act in U.S. history, where backroom deals were cut with U.S. Representatives and Senators and the voice of the nation was completely ignored. Many congressional Democrats will likely pay the price for this assault on democracy at the voting polls during the 2010 Elections. (text/plain)

Comrade Mao-Zedong had been so clear in his teachings. Practice is primary over theory. He rhetorically asked in his philosophical writings, “Where do correct ideas come from? Do they fall from the sky? Are they innate in the mind? No, they come from social practice and social practice alone.”

Lynda Carson
2010-05-27 1:35 PM People across the nation are speaking out against the scheme to privatize 1.2 million public housing units, under a HUD proposal called Transforming Rental Assistance (TRA) initiative. The struggle against the privatization of public housing in Berkeley and Oakland has blossomed into a nation wide struggle against the profiteers that are trying to terminate public housing programs across the nation! On May 25, 2010, at a congressional hearing, Congresswoman Maxine Waters and many housing advocacy organizations from across the country spoke-out against HUD's proposals, and submitted written statements for the hearing record opposing TRA, including the Los Angeles Coalition to End Hunger and Homelessness and other Los Angeles housing and human rights organizations. Puerto Rico: Beatings at the Sheraton
Internationalist Group
2010-05-22 2:29 AM On the evening of May 20, the notorious Shock Force of the Puerto Rican Police brutally attacked a demonstration of hundreds of students and workers protesting against Governor Luis Fortuño. The assault took place in the luxurious Sheraton Hotel, where the privatizing, anti-worker governor was presiding over a fancy fundraising dinner. As our reporter recounts, the police brutally beat demonstrators with riot clubs and pepper-sprayed everyone with tear gas and pepper gas. This was the response of the government to the workers strike two days ago in support of the student strike at the University of Puerto Rico, which has lasted almost a month. It is urgently necessary to translate the worker-student unity that was on display on May 18 into powerful strike actions that shut down key sectors of the economy of the U.S.' Caribbean island economy. We publish here the on-the-spot report from our correspondent who witnessed and participated in the protest. (text/html)

BP asks for ideas
manatee
2010-05-21 11:24 PM
BP is asking the public to submit ideas for how to help stop the oil spill. I think this is perfectly reasonable, and am submitting the following modification of their last ditch "junk shot" option: I am proposing the "CEO shot" option. We duct tape the entire cadre of CEOs and investors of BP into a large, tacky ball, and drop them into the pipe. (image/png)
