Early this morning, a subpoena was served to Governor Kathleen Blanco on behalf of the people of New Orleans and the areas affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, charging her with 'dereliction of duty'. An evicted tenants' belongings were placed on the Governor's lawn, along with a sign saying "Governor Blanco, Is this your 'state of normalcy'??" -- referring to a statement the Governor made when she lifted the ban on evictions on Oct. 25. Thứ 7, ngày 8 tháng 9, một nhóm các nhà hoạt động của New Orleans và nhóm ủng hộ trên toàn nước Mỹ đã họp mặt tại Baton Rouge, Louisiana để đưa ra những kiến nghị về thảm họa do bão Katrina gây ra. Muc đích nhằm đảm bảo cho người đang phải tản cư đi nơi khác được trở về nhà mình, được tham dự vào quá trình tái thiết và yêu cầu được công khai về hàng tỷ đô la mà quốc hội Mỹ đã thông qua cho việc tái thiết và cứu trợ. Most animals in New Orleans died because Governor of LA Kathleen Blanco, FEMA and Mayor of New Orleans Nagin refused to let people affected by hurricane katrina to stay with their pets or to return to New Orleans to rescue their loved family pet members. At least 40,000 companion animals were murdered because of the government left them to starve to death or suffer injuries. Some pets who survived have been lost in the system because the HSUS have been so incompetent. When Katrina and the floodwaters hit her house, she and her three children swam to a dry bridge where they lived for 2 days. “We watched people die,” said Ms. Robinson. Now her family and 52 other families from New Orleans face eviction from the Houston apartment complex where they lived for the last month.
