2005-09-24 9:31 PM
The Anti-Iraqi War rally in Washington, DC., today, 09/24/05, put on by the “United for Peace and Justice” organization, was a highly-spirited event. The Ellipse was overflowing with protesters and the march around the White House seemed to go on forever. MP, George Galloway, blasted George W. Bush and Tony Blair as “war criminals.” He said that we owe it to the world to make it clear that these “war criminals are not acting in our name!” (image/jpeg)

William Hughes
2005-09-21 10:58 PM
Cindy Sheehan, and the “Bring Them Home Now Tour,” hit Baltimore City last night. The Shriver auditorium on the Johns Hopkins U. campus was packed to capacity to hear the anti-Iraqi War messages of her and others. Sheehan said, we need an “Opposition Party” and that Congress is mostly made up of cowards, who have given “a liar” and “a maniac,” - George W. Bush - the power to invade Iraq. If Congress doesn’t shape up, she said: “Fire them!” (image/jpeg)

RFK, Jr. Blasts Big Oil & Bush-Cheney Gang
William Hughes
2005-09-21 12:02 AM
The Bush-Cheney Gang gave the store away in the so-called “Energy Bill.” It granted $4 billion in tax breaks to Big Oil, despite the fact that ExxonMobil had profits of $24 billion last year! Now, environmentalists rallying in Washington, D.C., on 09/20/05, suspect that parts of the pristine Arctic Wildlife Refuge will soon be opened up to oil drilling. At the protest, RFK, Jr., labeled George Bush: “The worst environmental president in U.S. history!” (image/jpeg + 1 comment)
A Message to the Anti-war Demonstrators
duko
2005-09-20 11:41 PM

Guantanamo. . . “shock and awe”. . . “collateral damage”. . . Fallujah. . . Abu Ghraib. Behind the words stand the cities reduced to rubble, the bodies in the streets, the hooded prisoners, the kicked-down doors, and the children—crying in terror or silently watching the humiliation of their parents. All justified by outrageous lies.

The horror grinds on, every day.

Iraq cannot wait.

Iraq cannot wait for “pendulum swings.” Iraq cannot wait for possible resolutions to set “reasonable” deadlines for hypothetical timetables. Iraq cannot wait for the 2006 U.S. elections—especially (but not only) when the major Democrats all oppose withdrawal from Iraq, and some even support more troops being sent.

Feds See Little Need for Healthcare Volunteers
michael
2005-09-20 7:19 PM The federal Deptartment of Health & Human Services today sent the following message to people who signed up as volunteer healthcare workers (click 'continue reading'). It appears the feds deployed 1200 employees and a mere 150 volunteer care providers.
But the need remains great, as the following blog entry illustrates. Looks like grassroots efforts are the way to go for healthcare workers who still want to help. (text/plain)

AT LEAST 60 LIVING PEOPLE LEFT TO DIE IN MILITARY MORGUE
DR. MARK N. PERLMUTTER
2005-09-20 7:42 AM He saw 80 of the people in the morgue, and 60 of them were still alive, in the morgue, waiting to die in a room they call the expectancy room. He begged for -- he begged for four of those people to be removed. For all of them to be reevaluated, the chief medical officer at the time, whose name he didn't catch said, "I'm sorry, they have to stay there to die." He then went to another chief medical officer who allowed him to take four people out and Reverend Noland tells me that alls they needed was water to come back to life. (text/plain + 2 comments)
KATRINA: BUSH'S acceptance of responsibility is a joke
FARHAT MAQUAMI
2005-09-19 12:17 PM Bush administration is culpable not only for failure to repaire the levees which led to death and destruction of New Orleans, but for forcible dislocation of thousands of poor blacks from their roots and community. No American patriot should accept Bush’s apologies to the victims of catastrophe. Anyone who let Bush walk away from this should let all criminals who confess and accept responsibility for a crime go free. Admission of responsibility does not absolve his culpability. To accept responsibility is confession to a crime of negligent homicide. The real contrition is in acceptance of punishment. There exists tons of research papers, State’s requests, official demands and news prints analysis which points to the upcoming catastrophe if levees are not repaired. It was an obvious failure in the chain of command. Nixon resigned, Clinton was impeached even for a far less significant misdeeds!
