Right now in encampments across the country protesters are occupying parks, plazas and/ or other public spaces. These protesters have been inspired to move because a lack of action on the part of the elected leadership of this country. In many ways they are a symbol of the broken promises made by this country's many representatives claiming to be ready to bring change. They are an outgrowth of the very lies spun by so many claiming they would bring accountability and a change from the all too close lobbyist/representative relationships that so many ordinary Americans had become tired of. We all knew it was those close relationships that had hijacked American politics and stolen power by way of gifts, jobs upon retirement and campaign contributions. (image/jpeg)

It's been amazing to see and experience the power of the protests of the Occupy movement. Just watching it spread around the world to multiple countries has been inspiring and awakening. Very rarely over the last forty years have we seen even isolated instances of this level of true passion for change in America let alone a social movement that has caught worldwide. And for those protests to be non-violent, as the Occupy protests have been, it's proven once again that real change can come not just in legislation, but in the way people view the possibilities open to them in terms of impacting the world around them.</ (image/jpeg)

The driving forces behind any movement are sometimes seen as external forces that push and pull on them using a variety of methods. We view things like say the money funding a movement (if there is much) to be the driving force behind specific movements. At other times we get sidetracked into believing various elements vying to be the faces of the movements are what keep them going. Outside influences seeking to tap into and take credit for the gains and messages of movements are often mistakenly given credit for being the forces behind or inspirations for these movements.
