NEW ORLEANS Jason Neville, candidate for State Senate District 3, will formally enter the race on Tuesday, August 19 at 11:30 AM in New Orleans at Criminal District Court at Tulane and Broad Streets.
Neville, an urban planner, laborer and activist, is the first Green party candidate to run for state office in Louisiana history. He is running on a platform of educational reform, increasing the minimum wage and guaranteed access to quality health care for every person in Louisiana. If elected, he would be the youngest member serving in the senate.
"I'm proud of the coalition we put together of grassroots activists running for state office this fall. Also, I see this as a unique opportunity to run for Senate District 3 because it's the first time that the incumbent has been challenged in this district for 20 years. My candidacy brings a real choice to the voters of District 3, a choice that is long overdue."
The 3rd District includes parts of the Lakefront, Faubourg Marigny, Faubourg St. John, Treme, Bywater, the French Quarter, Gentilly and eastern New Orleans.
Immediately following his qualification for election, the candidate will participate in a rally for public health care at 12:30 PM on the steps of the Medical Center of Louisiana at New Orleans (Charity Hospital), 1532 Tulane Avenue, New Orleans.
Jason Neville will be available to meet with the press at both events. To schedule an interview, please call (504) 338-3683.
