The Nagin administration’s repression of the anti-war contingent in the 2004 New Orleans MLK march is another reflection of the total bankruptcy of the US political system from the perspective of working people. Yet, the successful fight back the local anti-war movement mounted in the face of cop intimidation shows the way forward and represented, in microcosm, the expression of a real political alternative for the local working class.
